As a student, you can start your own Zoom session and use its recording and screen sharing feature to create a presentation that will be saved as a video file. Then you can share the video file with the instructor and the class.

1. Download Zoom and log in to your UTK account

1. In your web browser, visit https://tennessee.zoom.us/.
2. Select the Download Zoom link and install the software.
3. Open the Zoom application.
4. Select Sign In.
5. Select Sign In with SSO. - You will have to do it once.
6. Enter tennessee when prompted for the company domain.
7. Enter your UT NetID and Password on the login screen.
8. Authenticate with the Duo-2FA.
9. Familiarize yourself with Zoom by reviewing this Guide (PDF), Getting Started with Zoom website and Zoom video tutorials.

2. Start a Zoom meeting

1. Open the Zoom application and make sure you are signed-in to the UTK Zoom account (see above).
2. In the Zoom window, select New Meeting.

3. Record your presentation in Zoom

Zoom Toolbar

1. In the Zoom toolbar, select the menu for the Unmute/Mute button > and Test Speaker and Microphone. Enable microphone.
2. Select menu for Start/Stop Video button > check Video Settings. Enable video if you plan to record your webcam.
3. Select Record to the Cloud or Record on This Computer. The option may be hidden under the More button. A "recording" signal will appear on the top left corner of your screen.
  - "Record to the Cloud" - recommended option because
    - Zoom recording files are automatically saved to the Zoom Cloud after you end the Zoom session. The files are stored for 120 days.
    - You will receive email at your UTK account with the links to the Zoom recording.
    - You can also review the recorded files and sharing settings by visiting tennessee.zoom.us > Recordings > Cloud Recordings.
    - Note: Zoom cloud recording is also automatically saved in the Panopto cloud, in My Folder > Meeting Recordings. See the OIT Article: How do I log into Panopto?
  - "Record on This Computer"
    - An MP4 video file is saved to your computer. After you end the Zoom session, a message will appear on your screen informing you that your recorded meeting/presentation will be converted to mp4. Do not shut down your computer before the file conversion is complete and you have the prompt to save your recording.
4. Select Share Screen and choose to share Desktop or PowerPoint presentation if plan to record slides or anything else on your computer screen. Detailed instructions are illustrated in Screen Sharing a PowerPoint presentation.
5. Press Stop recording.
6. Select End Meeting in Zoom toolbar > End meeting for All.

Note: To make sure Zoom is recording what you intended, record a test presentation session by trying out a few options. Then, check the resulting recording. Testing your ability to record presentations eliminates possible errors on the final presentation day.
